On which event is described as the true birthday of the Church?

The Resurrection

Pentecost

Pentecost marks the moment when the Holy Spirit is poured out on Jesus’ followers, creating the visible, Mission-focused community we call the Church. Fifty days after Easter, the Spirit’s arrival liberates the disciples to proclaim the gospel in every language, signifying that the Church is now universal in its witness. The dramatic signs—the tongues of fire resting on each believer and the bold preaching that follows—show that God is dwelling within a gathered people, empowered to carry on Jesus’ mission to all nations. Around that event, about three thousand people are baptized, forming the first Christian community and starting the Church’s life of worship, teaching, and service.

So Pentecost is described as the Church’s birthday because it inaugurates the believers as a living, Spirit-filled body with a mission to the world. By contrast, the Resurrection, while foundational to Christian faith, does not establish the Church’s communal life; the Ascension marks Jesus’ return to the Father; the Transfiguration reveals Jesus’ divine glory to a select few without starting the Church’s mission.
